Oxford to Dublin and onward to New York

Oxford's first ever flight to Dublin
Christmas in New York
October 2011 - London Oxford Airport is delighted by the announcement of tour operator World of Experience Tours - part of Oxfordshire-based Great Experience Travel Group and also trading as Oxford Airport Travel - that festive flights to all-new destinations will operate this Christmas season from the Thames Valley’s very own regional airport. The airport confirms that two ‘first ever’ destinations will be offered to passengers from across the region – the first ever flight to Dublin in Ireland – and even more excitingly, onward to New York City in the USA.

Head of Route Development, David Surley welcomed the ground-breaking new flights saying, ”World of Experience Tours has teamed up with well known airlines Cityjet and Aer Lingus, to operate a specially chartered service from Oxford to Dublin and onward to New York on Wednesday 07 December and returning to Oxford on Monday 12 December. Passengers will have the option of enjoying a fun-filled 5 night seasonal city-break in the Irish capital - or an incredibly exciting first for travelers from our region - an action packed city adventure in New York City, one of the world’s top Christmas shopping destinations, renowned for its Holiday Season spirit and the first ever long-haul destination from Oxford.”

The brand new seasonally-themed departure will be operated by fast and comfortable 95 passenger Avro RJ85 regional jet of Air France carrier, Cityjet.

Joining forces with award-winning and popular international airline Aer Lingus, passengers flying from Oxford to New York’s John F Kennedy Airport will enjoy a smooth, easy and relaxing flight transfer in Dublin’s recently opened state-of-the-art Terminal 2, with just a few hassle-free steps between aircraft gates and your chance to enjoy a refreshment, light meal or do a little Duty Free shopping between flights.  Airline staff are readily available should you need any information or assistance. Settle down in comfort aboard the Aer Lingus wide body flight to New York, arriving just a comparatively short flight later in the Big Apple. Aer Lingus flights include excellent onboard amenities such as in-flight entertainment, meals and drinks, generous legroom and welcoming in-flight hospitality for which the shamrock branded airline is renowned.

Infamous for its festive flair and often movie-encapsulated yuletide character, New York is regarded as one of the best Christmas shopping destinations in the world, with bright starry lights on skyscrapers and Santa suit-clad street criers, glitteringly festive store windows and crisp wintry days that embody the very mood of all things “Christmassy”. There’s nowhere quite like New York anywhere else on earth and a four day trip to the Big Apple allows just sufficient time to soak up the festive atmosphere and meander the glitzy store-lined avenues, enjoy some of the world’s finest restaurants, take in a Broadway show – or two – and maybe a scenic boat trip on the Hudson River to see the Statue of Liberty. Other festive thrills in the city that never sleeps, include the renowned Guggenheim museum and gallery, ice-skating at the Rockefeller Centre, wintry horse-drawn rides around Central Park and the irrepressible buzz of streetside cafes, Times Square, or maybe a visit to legendary jewellery store Tiffany ‘s, to pick out something special to go under the Christmas tree.
