Aeronautical Ballooning in Oxford – see the British Association of Balloon Operators: There is nothing quite like sipping champagne in a basket floating above the ‘Dreaming Spires’ of Oxford on a summer’s evening. The are many operators in the area, but try these. Adventure Balloons – (3 Miles) Cameron Flights Southern – (3 miles) Virgin Balloon Flights – (9 miles) Gliding near Oxford Oxford Airport does not host any gliding clubs or schools due to the level of powered aircraft traffic we see. Certain powered gliders do fly into Oxford from time to time. However nearby, there are several alternative locations to choose from including Weston-on-the-Green, Enstone and Bicester. The nearest club is the Oxford Gliding Club at Weston-on-the-Green. See our Gliding Clubs and Training page for further information. Windrushers Gliding Club – 11 Miles Parachuting & Skydiving in Oxford We would rather prefer that you stay in the aircraft, but for the more adventurous amongst you, we would recommend visiting the RAFSPA at Weston-on-the Green, our neighboring airstrip.
