Oxford Airport Commences Work on
New Business Aviation Centre Airplane Logo

New Business Aviation Centre
Oxford Airport, April 2008 -  Oxford Airport has started work on establishing a first class business aviation terminal, catering specifically to the crews and passengers of the rapidly growing business aviation market.

To be completed by July this year, the new facility triples the floor space of the original GA terminal that has been in use for the last few years with a crisp, modern design. Overlooking the main business aircraft apron, the new facility will give crews the easiest access to their aircraft, with amenities more akin to those in a smart London ‘boutique’ hotel. Separate lounges will be provided for crews with additional rest areas, along with VIP and ‘VVIP’ zones for passengers with assured, maximum anonymity and privacy. NASP security compliance will be available to public transport operations over 10 tonnes, whilst the enhanced scale of the terminal will allow for the occasional charter of regional airliners, now capable of accessing Oxford with the new runway and the anticipated higher RFFS (fire category).

Private shower rooms, ‘snooze’ rooms, a crew kitchen and meeting rooms along with police, customs and immigration facilities will also be provided for within the new facility. Overall the new business terminal will provide crews with a relaxing environment with a contemporary twist.

Just over an hour’s drive away from the west end of London, Oxford now represents a very convenient, unconstrained and easy access alternative to the established ‘London’ airport choices, outside of the congested London TMA (terminal movement area) airspace with no capacity or slot issues. Whilst Oxford’s costs are considerably lower than the usual ‘London’ options, it is also notable that traffic on the M1 to Luton Airport is 120% more than that found on the M40 to Oxford and 70% more on the M3 to Farnborough Airport. Accordingly drive times are often no greater from the west end of London to Oxford.
